Thank you to all of our friends, mentors, donors, and partners in education for making the second annual Reaching Out Mentoring Partnership Dinner a fantastic event! And a special thanks to our guest speaker, Jordan Kent, for sharing his insight and inspiration with us. We are also grateful for our generous event sponsors. We couldn’t have done it without you:

You Can Make a World of Difference
Mentoring is the oldest form of adult to child contact. Mentos, Telamachus’ mentor in the Odyssey was not a man of great wisdom and knowledge, but he was a man willing to walk through life with a youth who needed a friend. Reaching Out Mentoring, the Patrick McCurdy Education Foundation’s largest project now mentors over 120 students between grades one and twelve in the Pleasant Hill and South Lane School Districts.
All it takes is one hour a week to make a difference in a youth’s life!
Ready to make a difference? Here’s a summary of our programs:
  • Reaching Out Mentoring- We have both adult and buddy mentoring programs.
  • Olivia’s GiftThe Patrick McCurdy Education Foundation offers an opportunity for preschool age students to attend school through Olivia’s Gift, a small grant given to Pleasant Hill and Chicago area preschools assisting families with the cost of preschool tuition.
  • Family Connection – Connecting and strengthening families is the goal of the partnership between PMEF and the Pleasant Hill and South Lane School Districts. We have joined efforts with the Family Resource Centers in both districts to provide classes for middle school families, resources and referrals, and additional support to parents.
There are three elements of Reading Out Mentoring: Adult Mentoring, Buddy Mentoring, and Academic Mentoring for high school students.
